Eetha Controversy Deepens as NCP Questions Film Title of Shraddha Kapoor Starrer

Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film controversy has become a major talking point in the entertainment industry ever since its teaser was released. The film, which is already riding high on expectations after the success of Stree 2, has now found itself at the centre of debate due to its title selection.

Political Objection Adds Fuel to Eetha Controversy

Soon after the teaser launch, leaders from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) raised concerns over the title, escalating the Eetha controversy. According to reports, the party’s Film and Cultural Department questioned why the biopic was not named after legendary Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar.

NCP members reportedly suggested that the film should be titled Vitha or Vithabai as a more respectful tribute, intensifying the Eetha controversy surrounding the project.

Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s Family Reacts

The Eetha controversy further deepened after Vithabai’s family members also expressed disappointment. Her sons Kailash and Rajesh, along with her grandson, have reportedly urged the makers to reconsider the title, stating that the current name does not adequately honour her legacy.

They believe the film should directly reflect Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s name to properly celebrate her contribution to Lavani and Tamasha.

Makers Silent Amid Growing Debate

Despite the rising Eetha controversy, director Laxman Utekar has not issued any official statement regarding a possible title change. The silence from the makers has only added more curiosity and discussion around the project.

At present, it remains unclear whether the title of Eetha will be changed or retained.

Not the First Eetha Controversy for Laxman Utekar

Interestingly, this is not the first time director Laxman Utekar has been involved in a public dispute. His previous film Chhaava also faced criticism over a scene that depicted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj performing the traditional dance form Lezim, which was later removed after backlash.

This history has once again brought attention to the ongoing Eetha controversy, placing the filmmaker under scrutiny.

Film Still Highly Anticipated Despite Eetha Controversy

Despite the ongoing Eetha controversy, the film remains one of the most awaited releases of the year. Starring Shraddha Kapoor alongside Randeep Hooda and Zeeshan Ayyub, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 28.

Even with debates surrounding its title, Eetha continues to generate strong buzz among audiences.
