The global football governing body has taken a major disciplinary action as the FIFA Nepal suspension was officially announced following violations related to third-party interference rules. The decision means the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been suspended with immediate effect, marking a serious setback for Nepalese football.
Nepal Suspension After Governance Dispute
The Nepal suspension comes after a prolonged governance dispute within Nepalese football administration. Earlier, Nepal’s National Sports Council had also suspended ANFA for three months, although that decision was later revoked. However, FIFA has now stepped in, citing violations under Article 14 of its regulations.
According to the official statement, the FIFA Nepal suspension was imposed due to breaches of rules related to third-party influence in football administration.
Nepal Suspension Leads to Complete Ban from Competitions
As a result of the Nepal suspension, Nepal’s national teams and club sides will no longer be allowed to participate in any international competitions organized by FIFA or the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The FIFA Nepal suspension also strips ANFA of all membership rights under Article 13 of FIFA regulations, effective from June 24, 2026, until further notice.
Nepal Suspension Affects Funding and Development Programs
Under the Nepal suspension, ANFA, its affiliated members, and officials will lose access to FIFA and AFC financial assistance. In addition, they will be excluded from all development programs, training courses, and official football activities organized by global and continental bodies.
The FIFA Nepal suspension further prohibits any sporting contact with suspended officials or teams, ensuring complete isolation during the ban period.
FIFA Nepal Suspension May Be Reversed
FIFA has clarified that the Nepal suspension could be lifted by the FIFA Council or Bureau before the next FIFA Congress if compliance issues are resolved. Once lifted, official communication will be issued to all stakeholders.
The FIFA Nepal suspension represents a significant blow to Nepalese football, impacting international participation, funding, and development programs. Until the issue is resolved, Nepal’s football activities on the global stage remain on hold.
