Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami sharply criticizing the Congress Party for its shirtless protest at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. He also addressed key issues, including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), land encroachments, “spit jihad,” and Operation Kalnemi, while questioning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s approach to national matters.
UCC implemented as per constitutional promise:
CM Pushkar Dhami highlighted that the UCC in Uttarakhand was enacted in line with constitutional provisions and the government’s 2022 election promise. “We assured the people that upon forming the government, we would implement a uniform law for all residents. On January 27, 2025, Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to enforce the UCC. Misconceptions surrounding the law have been clarified, and other states are now following suit,” he said.
On Shankaracharya controversy, land encroachments, and Operation Kalnemi:
Pushkar Dhami stressed that religious matters should not be politicized, referring to the Shankaracharya controversy. He also flagged large-scale land encroachments in Uttarakhand, stating, “Around 12,000 acres of land have been reclaimed, and the campaign continues.”
On Operation Kalnemi, aimed at protecting religious sentiments of millions of devotees visiting the state, he noted, “Action has been taken against more than 6,000 individuals misusing religious gatherings, ensuring devotees’ safety and respect for faith.”

Congress troubled by every step:
The Chief Minister accused the Congress Party of consistently opposing governance initiatives. “They oppose the UCC, religious protections, anti-riot measures, actions against land and love jihad, and even minority education improvements. The people of Devbhoomi support our efforts and have repeatedly rejected the Congress for such appeasement politics,” he said.
Pushkar Dhami Criticism of shirtless protest:
Reacting to the Congress protest at an international AI summit, Pushkar Dhami called it “shameful and disgraceful.” He said, “While India is demonstrating its technological and AI advancements globally, this act aimed to tarnish the country’s image. It reflects a very low-level and disrespectful mentality.”
Targeting Rahul Gandhi:
CM Pushkar Dhami further criticized Rahul Gandhi, saying, “He lacks seriousness and opposes everything. At the very least, he should recognize efforts benefiting the country.”
