The Punjab Police continued its aggressive crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, launched under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, entered its 35th day. On Tuesday, police conducted 587 raids across identified and mapped locations associated with gangster networks throughout the state.
The campaign, a decisive initiative to make Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been executing targeted operations since its inception.

Punjab Police Takes Preventive Action Against 150 Suspects, Apprehends 7 Proclaimed Offenders
On Day 35, 183 individuals were arrested, and three weapons were seized, bringing the total arrests under the campaign to 11,265. Additionally, preventive action was taken against 150 persons, while 133 individuals were verified and released after questioning. The police also apprehended seven proclaimed offenders (POs) during these operations. Citizens can anonymously share information about wanted criminals and criminal activity through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police’s anti-drug drive, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, continued on its 360th day, with 83 drug smugglers arrested on Tuesday. Seizures included 431 grams of heroin, 12 kilograms of poppy husk, 323 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 4,860 in drug money. The total number of drug-related arrests under the campaign has now reached 51,086 in 360 days. As part of the de-addiction initiative, 25 individuals were persuaded to undergo rehabilitation treatment on Tuesday, reinforcing Punjab Police’s commitment to a drug-free and safe state.
