Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has spoken out after false statements about his personal life and previous marriage began circulating online. The veteran batsman, who recently married Sophie Shine, expressed frustration over misleading posts and clickbait content being attributed to him.
“Never Carried Baggage”
Following viral wedding photos, several social media accounts claimed Dhawan had made disparaging remarks about his past relationship or divorce. Shikhar Dhawan addressed these rumours directly on his official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts on February 23, 2026, stating:
“I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past, be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past.”
Shikhar Dhawan added:
“This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers, and the media. I strongly urge people not to trade on my name with clickbait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!”

A Plea for Respect and Positivity
Shikhar Dhawan urged content creators and the public to stop using his name for “insensitive” engagement. He emphasized that he is currently in a grateful and positive phase of life.
The cricketer’s personal life has been under scrutiny since his high-profile divorce from Aesha Mukherjee in October 2023, which included a legal battle over custody of their son, Zoravar. Throughout that period, Shikhar Dhawan maintained dignity, refraining from speaking negatively about his former spouse.
His recent wedding to Sophie Shine on February 21, 2026, in a private Delhi-NCR ceremony, marks a fresh beginning. The couple, who had been dating since 2025, opted for an intimate celebration with close friends and family.
