As part of the ongoing anti-gangster drive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, launched under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police on Monday carried out 487 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab gangster-free, was formally launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Since then, police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been conducting intensive operations statewide.
Punjab Police Arrest 208 in Single Day, Campaign Tally Reaches 11,082
On the 34th day of the campaign, police arrested 208 individuals and recovered one weapon from their possession. With this, the total number of arrests under the drive has reached 11,082.
Additionally, preventive action was taken against 86 individuals, while 151 persons were detained, verified and later released after questioning. During the operation, nine proclaimed offenders were also apprehended.
Today, Punjab Police has launched an Anti-Gangster helpline seeking public cooperation to share information directly on 93946-93946 to help apprehend wanted criminals.

99 Drug Smugglers Arrested on Day 359 of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’
Meanwhile, continuing its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ for the 359th consecutive day, Punjab Police arrested 99 drug smugglers on Monday. During the operation, officials seized 6.9 kg of heroin, 6 kg of ICE, 1 kg of opium, 210 kg of poppy husk, 577 intoxicant tablets and capsules, along with ₹7,870 in drug money.

With these latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended under the campaign has risen to 50,964 in 359 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 30 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on the same day.
