Faridkot : In a major breakthrough against trans-border narcotics trafficking, Faridkot Police have dismantled a Pakistan-backed international drug cartel as part of the ongoing โ€œYudh Nashian Virudhโ€ campaign to make Punjab drug-free, announced DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Sunday. Six individuals, including a serving army personnel and a dismissed police officer, were arrested, and 4.8 kg of heroin, a .30 bore pistol, three live cartridges, โ‚น30,000 in drug money, and two vehicles used for trafficking were seized.

The accused have been identified as Jarnail Singh alias Goldy of Ludhiana (serving in the Indian Army), Amardeep Singh alias Boxer (dismissed PAP cadre), Dimple Rani of Ferozepur, and Ramandeep Kaur, Sarabjit Singh alias Sabba, and Amritpal Singh alias Abhijot, all residents of Moga. The vehicles seized included a Thar and an XUV-500, reportedly used to transport heroin consignments.

DGP Yadav said the operation was the result of a meticulously planned, intelligence-driven investigation and a two-month-long jail-based interception that revealed the cartelโ€™s deep-rooted connections. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers who used drones to transport heroin into India. Further investigations are ongoing to trace both forward and backward linkages of the network.

Faridkot Police Intercept Vehicles, Seize 4.8 kg Heroin and Firearm in Intelligence-Led Operation

SSP Faridkot, Dr Pragya Jain, detailed that on the night of February 20-21, a CIA staff team intercepted a Thar vehicle near Green Avenue. A search under the supervision of DSP Faridkot Tarlochan Singh led to the recovery of 1.008 kg heroin and drug money, resulting in the arrest of four individuals. Subsequent interrogation revealed that Amardeep Singh alias Boxer was supplying the consignment in an XUV-500, leading police to intercept him and Dimple Rani near Goleana Semnala, recovering an additional 3.796 kg heroin and a .30 bore pistol.

Dr Pragya Jain added that the main kingpin, Amardeep Singh alias Boxer, is a habitual offender with nine previous criminal cases, while other members also have significant records under the NDPS and Arms Acts. The involvement of a serving army personnel and dismissed police officer indicates a sophisticated network exploiting official credentials for easy passage through checkpoints. Women accomplices were reportedly used to transport contraband, showing a well-planned modus operandi.

All six accused have been sent on police remand to further investigate cross-border handlers and local distribution networks. FIR No. 95 dated 21.02.2026 has been registered at Police Station City Faridkot under sections 21(c) and 27A of the NDPS Act.

This operation marks a significant success in Punjabโ€™s ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and dismantle organized drug networks operating across borders.
