New Delhi – The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, addressed the National CSR Summit 2026, organized by the Times of India Group at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, emphasizing the pivotal role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in India’s development journey.

Commending the Times of India Group for convening the summit, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan noted that collaboration among institutions, industry, and civil society is essential for national progress, particularly during this transformative phase in India’s growth trajectory.

Highlighting India’s economic achievements over the past decade under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he said the country has risen from the 10th largest economy to the 4th largest and is on track to become the third largest globally. He credited structural reforms, financial inclusion, infrastructure development, and digital connectivity for lifting more than 25 crore citizens out of extreme poverty and expanding aspirations across regions and communities.

Shri Radhakrishnan stressed that CSR is no longer a peripheral activity but a central pillar of nation-building, describing it as the intersection where enterprise meets empathy and growth aligns with social purpose. He emphasized that CSR initiatives can have transformative impacts by strengthening public education, improving primary healthcare in remote areas, promoting skill development, supporting women-led enterprises, and advancing renewable energy and climate resilience efforts.

The Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan underlined that CSR is a commitment to the nation, not merely a legal obligation. He praised corporate India for building social capital, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable growth, noting that honest taxpayer contributions and responsible corporate investments reinforce national development. He also highlighted India’s transition from a technology adaptor to an innovator, advocating for solutions that the world can adopt.

Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan emphasized that while policy reforms such as ease of doing business, digital governance, and GST have enhanced transparency and trust, true transformation occurs when government, industry, and civil society work in harmony—the core spirit of the summit.

Speaking on responsible capitalism, he observed that profit and purpose must go hand-in-hand, stressing that sustainable growth requires balancing financial success with societal welfare. He encouraged corporate leaders to invest strategically, measure impact rigorously, and treat CSR as nation-building capital rather than mere expenditure.
