Bhind, Madhya Pradesh – A tragic accident on National Highway 719 in Bhind district claimed the lives of five people and left six others seriously injured early Saturday morning, police officials confirmed.
The incident took place around 2:30 AM near Chhimka village, falling under the jurisdiction of Gohad Chauraha police station, approximately 45 km from Bhind district headquarters, said SHO Manish Dhakad.
An empty bus collided with a van, killing four occupants instantly. One more succumbed to injuries at a hospital, bringing the death toll to five. The six injured individuals have been shifted to Gwalior for advanced medical care.
Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as devastating, with the van completely crushed and its occupants trapped inside. Local residents rushed to assist and promptly informed the police.
Overspeeding Suspected as Bus Collides with Van; Victims Traveling from Gwalior to Bhind
Police stated that the victims were traveling from Gwalior to Bhind, while the bus, returning to Gwalior after dropping off a wedding party, had no passengers onboard. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident.
Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted until authorities cleared the wreckage and restored movement.
The deceased have been identified as Bharat Sharma, Atul Shivhare, Jagdish Bhadauria, Pradeep Prajapati, and Anand Bhadauria, aged between 25 and 50, confirmed SDOP Ravindra Vaskale.

The injured, currently receiving treatment in Gwalior, include Ketu Sharma (10), Santosh Sharma (37), Mewaram Bhadauria (61), Ramlakhan (59), Meera (30), and Sukhveer Sharma (50).
