Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan urged the Sangat and Panthic circles to unite in order to protect Panthic maryada, stressing that transparency and accountability in the SGPC are critical at this juncture. Addressing growing concerns over the management of Sikh institutions, he called for collective introspection and corrective action.
“I appeal to the Sangat and Panthic circles to come together to safeguard Panthic maryada. Transparency and accountability in the SGPC is the need of the hour,” Sandhwan said.
Highlighting the functioning of the SGPC, the Speaker observed that while it is a highly respected institution responsible for managing Gurdwara Sahiban, questions regarding its operations have been repeatedly raised over the past few decades.
“Panth-conscious voices have consistently flagged concerns,” he said, referring to recent disclosures by Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh and earlier issues raised by Bhai Sahib Bhai Ranjit Singh, which have once again brought critical issues to public attention.

Sandhwan specifically pointed to irregularities related to Gurdwara lands, Guru’s golak, and overall management, noting that whistleblowers have often faced retaliation through transfers, expulsions, and even legal action, rather than corrective measures.

Sandhwan further criticized the influence of a particular family controlling SGPC, calling the alleged misuse of institutions, golaks, and Panthic resources for political purposes unacceptable. He highlighted serious issues, including land scams, irregularities in langar rotis, and the management of 328 saroops, which he said must be addressed transparently.
Calling the current situation a decisive moment for the Panth, Sandhwan urged collective action in the spirit of Sarbat Khalsa. “If the Panth suffers, Punjab suffers. Weak Panthic institutions weaken society. Protecting the maryada and property of Guru Ghar requires awareness, unity, and decisive action,” he asserted.
