Bollywood actress Kiara Advani shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram for her father-in-law, Sunil Malhotra, who passed away on February 14 in Delhi after a long illness. A former Merchant Navy Captain, Sunil Malhotra reportedly died peacefully in his sleep. Kiara described him as the pillar of strength for the family and recalled how warmly he welcomed her from the very beginning.

Accompanying a family photo and a solo picture of Sunil Malhotra, Kiara Advani wrote: “From the very beginning – you welcomed me with open arms, steady wisdom, and a kind of unconditional love that grounded us all. Your warmth was constant. Your generosity is effortless. Your love for your family was at the centre of everything you did. You showed up – every single time. You listened with intention. You remembered the little things. You gave so freely, never expecting anything in return.”
Kiara Advani added that his stories, laughter, quiet strength, and gentle heart would remain with her forever, leaving a legacy of gentleness, integrity, and unwavering love that lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him. She concluded her post with a heart emoji.
Sidharth Malhotra’s Heartfelt Message
On February 17, Sidharth Malhotra confirmed his father’s demise on Instagram. Sharing several photos with his father, he called the loss “immeasurable” and expressed that he would always carry forward his father’s name, values, and light.
He wrote: “He was a man of rare honesty, integrity, and culture. He lived by values that never bent. Discipline without harshness. Strength without ego. Positivity, even when life tested him beyond measure. From commanding the seas as a Merchant Navy Captain to facing illness with quiet courage, he never compromised, never lost his grace. Even when the stroke confined him to a wheelchair, his spirit stood tall.”

Sidharth added that his father’s integrity remains his greatest inheritance, guiding the family with strength and positivity. He concluded: “You left us peacefully in your sleep, but the emptiness you leave behind is immeasurable. I am who I am because of you. Currently, Sidharth, who married Kiara Advani in 2023, is in Delhi to attend his father’s last rites.
Sidharth on His Father’s Health Journey
Earlier, in a conversation with Lilly Singh, Sidharth had opened up about his father’s health struggles and how it affected the family, especially his mother, who had been Sunil Malhotra’s primary caregiver. He admitted that fear and frustration sometimes made him react unfairly towards his mother, who managed his father’s daily care and medicines.
He recalled a moment in Delhi when his mother shared her past struggles in caring for his father. Reflecting on this, Sidharth said he realized how much his mother had silently borne over the years. He expressed regret for not giving her enough credit at the time and emphasized that he now tries to approach her with more sensitivity and love.
