Governor Mangubhai Patel Praises Devi Ahilyabai Holkar’s Legacy at DAVV Convocation

PhD Degrees and Medals Conferred as Governor Urges Students to Uphold Values of Service, Honesty, and Nation-Building

Governor and Chancellor Shri Mangubhai Patel praised Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar as a symbol of political integrity, women’s empowerment, and devoted public service. He noted her numerous welfare initiatives, including the resettlement of 60 families from Junagadh, Gujarat, in Indore, and remarked that her life and legacy continue to inspire generations nearly 300 years later. Shri Mangubhai Patel urged students to draw inspiration from her example and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

Addressing the Convocation Ceremony of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore on Tuesday, the Governor Mangubhai Patel conferred PhD degrees and medals to research scholars and extended his best wishes for their future success. He emphasized that a convocation degree is not just a certificate but a symbol of responsibility to serve society and advance the nation. Noting that female graduates outnumbered male graduates, he described it as a reflection of the success of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. He encouraged students to uphold values of service, cooperation, and compassion, and support the underprivileged.

Governor Mangubhai Patel Highlights DAVV’s Role in Development & Tribal Health

Shri Mangubhai Patel highlighted India’s rapid development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya would contribute significantly toward achieving a developed India by 2047. He also commended the University’s initiatives to combat sickle cell anemia in tribal areas.

Lessons from the Ramayana

Addressing students, the Governor Mangubhai Patel urged them to remain steadfast during challenges, maintain honesty, and follow the path of truth. Drawing on the example of Lord Rama, revered as Maryada Purushottam, he emphasized the importance of adhering to principles and duty, even in difficult circumstances, and encouraged students to learn from every character of the Ramayana.

During the ceremony, local MP Shri Shankar Lalwani encouraged students to contribute toward building a developed India, while Padma Shri awardee Shri Narayan Vyas advised students to set clear life goals and work diligently to achieve them, highlighting the importance of quality education for career opportunities. Kulguru Dr. Rakesh Singhai detailed the University’s initiatives aimed at enhancing academic excellence and the overall quality of higher education.

The convocation was attended by the University Registrar, principals, professors, students, their families, and members of the Executive Council of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya.
