Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami will launch the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana from Dehradun on February 10, aiming to make single women self-reliant across the state. Under the scheme, women will receive up to 75% subsidy on project costs, while beneficiaries need to contribute only 25%.
Eligibility and Target Beneficiaries
The Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana scheme is designed for unmarried, divorced, widowed, abandoned, transgender, acid attack, and crime-affected women, aged 21 to 50 years with an annual income not exceeding ₹72,000. Initially, 484 women from various districts have been selected to benefit, including:
- Dehradun: 191 women
- Nainital: 75 women
- Pauri Garhwal: 66 women
- Udham Singh Nagar: 87 women
- Bageshwar: 42 women
- Tehri Garhwal: 23 women
The department aims to benefit 2,000 women in the first phase, with selections based on applications received at the district level.
Financial Assistance and Areas of Self-Employment
Beneficiaries will receive grants of up to ₹1.5 lakh, with 50–75% subsidy provided by the government. Women can become self-employed in various sectors such as tailoring, beauty parlours, bakeries, shops, and other entrepreneurial ventures.

Empowering Women Across Uttarakhand
According to Banshi Lal Rana, Director of Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, this is the first Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana scheme focused solely on single women, aiming to make them self-reliant and financially independent. On the launch day, five selected women from different districts will be present as the Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana scheme is inaugurated by CM Pushkar Dhami .
This initiative is part of the Uttarakhand government’s commitment to women empowerment, skill development, and promoting entrepreneurship among marginalized and single women across the state.
