Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 2026-27 Union Budget in Parliament on Sunday, February 1, receiving strong approval from government leaders. CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the budget on social media as he followed it live on television.

Yogi Adityanath described the General Budget-2026-27 as visionary, inclusive, and development-oriented under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing its role in realizing the vision of a developed India. He noted that the budget outlines a clear roadmap for achieving Amrit Kaal goals and fulfilling the aspirations of 145 crore Indians. This budget, prepared for the first time at Dutya Bhawan, focuses on rapid economic growth, citizen empowerment, and equal opportunities for all families.

Key Highlights According to CM Yogi

  • The budget includes substantial measures for farmers, youth, women, entrepreneurs, and common citizens.

  • Past reforms like GST simplification and labor code notifications have strengthened states’ development efforts.

  • Proposals to rejuvenate old industrial areas, boost MSMEs, develop infrastructure, ensure energy security, and promote urban economic growth were praised.

  • Integrated development of 500 reservoirs and Amrit lakes will enhance rural economy and fisheries, while animal husbandry initiatives will generate youth employment.

Urban Development & Education

  • Rs 100 crore incentives announced for single municipal bonds issuance over Rs 1,000 crore, benefiting cities like Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Agra.

  • STEM hostels in every district will improve access to quality higher education.

Health & Social Welfare

  • Five medical hubs, including one in Varanasi, and five regional medical centers will strengthen healthcare in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Schemes like Rashtriya Fibre Scheme, Tax-Icon, and Samarth 2.0 will support artisans and weavers.

  • Biopharma Shakti Yojana and SME Development Fund (Rs 10,000 crore) will promote research, startups, and micro-enterprises.

  • Capital expenditure of ₹12.2 lakh crore will strengthen expressways, industrial corridors, logistics parks, and urban infrastructure.

  • Delhi-Varanasi and Varanasi-Siliguri routes will directly connect Purvanchal to the National High-Speed Network, boosting tourism and business.

  • Digital documentation of heritage sites and inclusion of Sarnath and Hastinapur will strengthen cultural tourism.

Economic & Tax Reforms

  • Simplified Income Tax Act, 2025, effective April 2026, will benefit the public.

  • The budget focuses on youth empowerment, poor and marginalized communities, and a self-reliant India under the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

Public Reception

  • Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary called it revolutionary for youth and skill development. Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted its impact on urban-rural development.

  • Opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, and others, expressed disappointment, calling the budget directionless or unclear in some areas.
