Punjab govt to add 54 service centers, raising total to 598, enhancing citizen services, online verification & zero-pendency goal by Jan 15, 2026.

The Punjab administration, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, plans to build 54 more service centers as part of its service delivery framework expansion. The overall number of service centers in the state will increase to 598 with the addition of new facilities. The extension was announced by Aman Arora, Minister for Governance Reforms and Information Technology (GG&IT). After attaining the noteworthy feat of having the lowest pendency rate in the nation, the state government is stepping up its efforts to improve citizen-centric governance with this program.

The announcement came after the minister at MAGSIPA presided over a thorough assessment meeting. The supply of services to citizens and the operation of service centers were the main topics of the discussion. The meeting was attended by senior department officials, and all deputy commissioners participated via video conference. Vishesh Sarangal, Director (GG&IT), and additional Chief Secretary D.K. Tiwari were also in attendance.

A review of the performance of Punjab’s 544 service centers—of which 263 are urban and 281 are rural—was conducted during the conference. Currently, 465 government-to-citizen (G2C) and seven business-to-citizen (B2C) services are provided by these self-sustaining centers. Pendency status, service-wise results, official objections, and the online field verification process were all discussed. There have been fewer “send back” incidents, which is indicative of fewer preventable objections.

Aman Arora reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving zero pendency and gave Deputy Commissioners strict instructions to make sure all services are delivered within the allotted time frames.

He added that officers who achieve 0% pendency will be honored, and districts will get rewards based on their exceptional performance in processing applications. The minister also praised district administrations for making sure that all field verification officials—such as Patwaris, Sarpanches, Numberdars, and Municipal Councillors—participated fully in online verification via WhatsApp, e-Seva, and m-Seva. He reported that 96.3 percent of the approximately four lakh applications that were received for online verification had already been handled.

Aman Arora mandated that all new service center building be finished by January 15, 2026.

To enhance service accessibility, effectiveness, and user experience, the Punjab government has also launched the “Government at Your Doorstep” project and the Citizen Service Delivery Portal (connect.punjab.gov.in).
