Punjab Assembly honors the unmatched sacrifices of Sahibzadas and Sikh martyrs; CM Bhagwant Mann highlights courage, righteousness, and resistance to oppression.

The House honored the unmatched “Shaheedi” (martyrdom) of the four Sahibzadas during a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, reiterating Punjab’s history of defiance against oppression. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Assembly honored Mata Gujri Ji, Baba Jivan Singh Ji, Baba Sangat Singh Ji, Diwan Todar Mal Ji, and Baba Ajit Singh Ji, Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.

While pointing out that the Punjab Government had properly celebrated the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with all the necessary preparedness and respect, the Chief Minister stated that these great sacrifices taught society to never bow down to injustice and to stay firm for values.

CM stated that the Sahibzadas’ immense sacrifices have a particular place in human history while taking part in the conversation during the state assembly’s eleventh (special) session. Even though the Sahibzadas were killed when they were quite young, their selfless sacrifice still motivates us to stand up to oppression and injustice from despotic governments. Our future generations will always be inspired by these sacrifices to resist oppression, injustice, and tyranny,” he said.

Walking on thorns is far easier than walking on beliefs and ideologies, the Chief Minister added, adding that upholding one’s principles is the hardest test a person can face. But in order to protect human freedom, the Sahibzadas set an example in history by choosing the road of righteousness. This teaches us to keep these beliefs even in difficult situations. He noted that although the younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji were imprisoned in the “Thanda Burj” during the terrifying month of Poh, they also upheld the values instilled in them by their parents and grandparents, which is unmatched in all of human history.

He claimed that despite the fact that this terrible martyrdom occurred almost three centuries ago, the suffering and agony are still felt today. “Many famous warriors, including Baba Jivan Singh Ji, Baba Sangat Singh Ji, Diwan Todar Mal Ji, Baba Moti Ram Mehra, and others, made enormous contributions to Sikh history in their own ways after the family of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was split up,” he continued.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann honored them by saying that mankind as a whole will always be grateful to those brave and courageous people who spoke out against oppression.

The Chief Minister discussed the preparations made for the thousands of devotees who would be traveling from all over the world for the Shaheedi Sabha, stating that great care had been taken to ensure that no devotee would experience any problems with regard to transportation, cleanliness, security, or medical services. To make things easier for the pilgrims, e-rickshaws and buses were set up, along with appropriate security measures. The Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, celebrated his 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom anniversary) in November of this year in Sri Anandpur Sahib with great fervor and reverence. He added that special preparations had also been made to commemorate the occasion.
