Punjab SEC declares Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti results 2025: AAP wins majority zones, INC, SAD, BJP trail, detailed district-wise results announced.
Chandigarh: The State Election Commission, Punjab, on Thursday, declared the Zila Parishad & Panchayat Samiti Results of the general elections for local bodies, covering 346 zones of 22 Zila Parishads and 2,834 zones of 153 Panchayat Samitis across the state. The elections saw a strong mandate for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which secured a majority in both tiers of local governance.
In the Zila Parishad elections, AAP emerged as the clear winner, capturing 218 zones. The Indian National Congress (INC) secured 62 zones, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won 46 zones, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got 7 zones, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won 3 zones, and independent candidates (IND) claimed 10 zones.
The Panchayat Samiti elections reflected a similar trend. AAP dominated with 1,529 zones, while INC won 611 zones, SAD 449 zones, BJP 73 zones, BSP 28 zones, and IND 144 zones.
According to election observers, the results highlight AAP’s growing influence in grassroots politics across Punjab, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Party leaders celebrated the victory, claiming it as a mandate for their governance model and public welfare initiatives.

District-wise data shows AAP’s strong performance in districts such as Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, and Bathinda, while INC and SAD managed to retain pockets of support in some traditional strongholds. Analysts note that this outcome may significantly influence future state-level elections and policy-making at the local level.
The State Election Commission also confirmed that the elections were conducted smoothly with minimal incidents, emphasizing transparency and adherence to democratic norms. Officials are expected to release the detailed district-wise results soon for public scrutiny.
With these results, the AAP government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is likely to consolidate its position at the grassroots level, reinforcing its developmental and welfare programs across Punjab’s villages and towns.
