WPL 2026 retentions announced: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals retain key stars; Deepti Sharma enters Mega Auction. Full list of players revealed.

The focus of women’s cricket shifts to the Women’s Premier League ( WPL ) following the ICC Women’s World Cup, as all competing teams announce their retentions.

The defending (and two-time) champion Mumbai Indians and the two-time runners-up Delhi Capitals are among the teams that have further retained five of their current roster.

Before the Mega Auction later this month, some, like the UP Warriorz, have chosen to add depth to their purse. The WPL 2026 player retentions are shown here for those that are interested.

All Players Retained in the WPL 2026

Jemimah Rodrigues, Annabel Sutherland, Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, and Niki Prasad are the Delhi Capitals (DC).

Mumbai Indians (MI): G Kamalini, Hayley Matthews, Amanjot Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Nat Sciver-Brunt

Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Shreyanka Patil, and Smriti Mandhana of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Gujarat Giants (GG)

Shweta Sehrawat of the UP Warriorz (UPW)

Not unexpectedly, the majority of players that garnered media attention during the most recent ICC Women’s World Cup have been kept by their teams.

Jemimah Rodrigues, Amajot Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Richa Ghosh were all members of the victorious Indian squad.

Indeed, both Mandhana and Rodrigues are members of the ICC Tournament Team. With only two appearances, Shafali Verma was instrumental and won Player of the Match in the championship game.

Fascinatingly, however, UP Warriorz chose to split with Deepti Sharma, the World Cup Player of the Tournament winner. She could be a highly sought-after selection in the next WPL 2026 auction.

Location and Date of the WPL Mega Auction

It is anticipated that the WPL Mega Auction will take place in New Delhi on November 27, 2025.
