Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann inaugurated ₹138.82 crore drainage and water supply projects in Sri Muktsar Sahib, benefiting over 1.58 lakh residents.
SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB: Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, lay the cornerstone for drainage and water supply projects valued at 138.82 crore on Sunday.
Speaking to a crowd at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the Chief Minister announced that Rs 48.14 crore would be spent on water supply projects and Rs 90.68 crore on the new sewerage system. There are 31,000 dwellings in the city, he said, and when the projects are finished, about 1.58 lakh people will benefit. The absence of drainage and clean drinking water will no longer be a problem for residents, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann.
In this historic city, new water supply and sewerage projects are being started after 30 years, according to the chief minister. “It is regrettable that the city has been overlooked even though the district has previously produced Chief Ministers and important cabinet ministers,” he remarked. “I consider myself fortunate that God has allowed me to begin these major projects here,” Bhagwant Singh Mann stated.

Speaking about the state of affairs, the Chief Minister stated that the current sewer system was outdated and frequently blocked, and that sewerage services were lacking in a number of new colonies. He said that the new initiatives would address these ongoing issues, especially in the vicinity of Sri Darbar Sahib. Two overhead tanks will be constructed, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann, one near the main waterworks on Kotkapura Road and the other on Abohar Road.
In order to restore the highways and municipal streets that will be impacted by the work, the Chief Minister said that Rs 17 crore had been set aside. He also gave officials instructions to finish the projects on schedule. The government has been forced to start programs like “War Against Drugs” in an effort to eradicate this stigma, Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, blaming conventional political parties for driving Punjab into drug use. Thousands of young people died prematurely as a result of the previous governments’ failure to control drug dealers, he claimed.
