There have been rumors that Rohit Sharma, who is now with the Mumbai Indians (MI), would join Abhishek Nayar before the 2026 Indian Premier League ever since he was appointed head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KRR).

As MI’s most successful captain, Rohit has guided the team to five trophies. In 2024, Hardik Pandya took up his position, and there were rumors that he would break off his long-term partnership with them before the start of the next season.
