7 Terrorists Killed in Samba Sector as India Foils Infiltration Backed by Pakistan Rangers
New Delhi, May 9, 2025 :In a major counter-terror operation, India successfully foiled a Pakistan-backed infiltration attempt, killing seven heavily armed terrorists in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday night. According to the Border Security Force (BSF), the infiltration was facilitated by Pakistan Rangers, who provided cover fire from the Dhandhar post across the border.
The attempt, detected by India’s advanced surveillance grid during the intervening night of May 8 and 9, led to swift retaliatory action by alert BSF troops. Officials confirmed that the Pakistani military post aiding the terrorists was also extensively damaged during India’s response, and visuals of the destruction have been released by the BSF.
Infiltration Attempt and Immediate Neutralization
The BSF released a statement on Thursday morning stating:
“Alert troops of BSF neutralised the infiltration bid, killing at least seven terrorists and causing extensive damage to the Pak Post Dhandhar.”
The Samba sector, part of the highly sensitive international border region, has witnessed several infiltration attempts in the past, but the scale and planning of this operation indicate a deliberate escalation supported by state actors from Pakistan.
Indian forces reported no casualties on their side, crediting their rapid response, strategic preparedness, and effective use of integrated surveillance technology.
Pattern of Pakistani Support for Terrorism
This infiltration bid is not an isolated event. It fits into a broader pattern of how the Pakistani military, especially the Pakistan Rangers, provide logistical and tactical support to cross-border terrorists.
India has repeatedly highlighted Pakistan’s role in being a safe haven for terrorists, raising the issue in international forums such as the United Nations and with global partners like the United States.
The incident also comes amid heightened tensions, following a failed series of aerial strikes and drone attacks launched by Pakistan targeting Indian military and civilian locations across Jammu, Udhampur, Pathankot, and several cities in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat. All incoming threats were intercepted and neutralized by Indian air defense systems.
Civilian Safety and Air Force Alert
As a precaution, nighttime blackouts were enforced across border cities including Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Bikaner. The Indian Air Force (IAF) raised alerts in Chandigarh, where sirens were sounded and residents were urged to stay indoors amid intelligence of possible missile attacks.
At least 24 civilian airports across northwestern India were temporarily
