Uttar Pradesh will export 40 Tonnes of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia this year says Yogi Adityanath.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, declared in Lucknow on Friday that the State would be sending 40 tonnes of mangoes to Malaysia and Japan. Additionally, Lucknow’s well-known Dussehri is set to be shipped to the US for the first time in its 160-year existence. At Awadh Shilp Gram, he was launching the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2024.
This year, 40 tonnes of mangoes would be sent by Uttar Pradesh to Malaysia and Japan. Mr. Adityanath stated, “The renowned Dussehri mangoes from Lucknow are also being shipped to the United States for the first time in 160 years.
“Dussehri mangoes are priced between ₹60 and ₹100 per kilogram in India, but they are now ₹900 per kilogram in the U.S. market,” he continued. Sending one kilogram of mango to America might cost between ₹250 and ₹300 when tariffs, shipping, and airfare are taken into account.
The chief minister of U.P. asserted that the state’s gardeners produced 58 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes on 3,15,000 hectares of land, or about thirty percent of the nation’s total mango production. He stated that the U.P. government has built four pack homes in Saharanpur, Amroha, Lucknow, and Varanasi to assist farmers in cooperation with the Government of India.
A mango exhibition with one hundred and twenty varieties of rare mangoes was opened by Mr. Adityanath. A mango-eating competition and a training seminar are two of the highlights of the three-day mango festival, which takes place from July 12–14. Mango farmers from Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh have registered for the event.
