Punjab Governor Administers Oath to New PPSC Chairman

In a significant administrative development, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office to Major General (Retired) Vinayak Saini, the newly appointed Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann gracing the occasion. Chief Secretary KAP Sinha officiated the ceremony proceedings.

Extending his congratulations, Chief Minister Mann expressed his full support to the new Chairman and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring transparent recruitment processes. “PPSC plays a vital role in building a merit-based public administration, and we are confident that under Major General Saini’s leadership, the commission will continue to uphold its integrity,” Mann said.

Major General (Retd) Vinayak Saini, a native of Hoshiarpur currently residing in Mohali, brings with him over three decades of service in the Indian Army. He was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in December 1987 and retired in October 2024. His distinguished military career and leadership experience are expected to bring a disciplined and structured approach to the commission’s functioning.

Among those present at the ceremony were Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Principal Secretary to the Governor VP Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Ravi Bhagat, and other senior dignitaries and officials.

The appointment is seen as a move to further strengthen Punjab’s commitment to transparent and merit-based governance, with hopes pinned on the new Chairman to steer PPSC toward greater efficiency and public trust.
