Illegal Property of Drug Peddlers Demolished in Mandi Gobindgarh

As part of the ongoing ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign aimed at making Punjab drug-free, the state government has intensified its crackdown on illegal drug-related activities. In a significant development, an illegal construction carried out by two female drug peddlers in Mandi Gobindgarh was demolished by the district police and administration on 6May 2025.

This operation took place under the supervision of SSP Shubham Aggarwal, in the Master Colony of Mandi Gobindgarh, in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The action is part of the Punjab Government’s broader strategy to tackle drug trafficking and destroy the infrastructure built with drug money. The demolished property was reportedly built by two women, Sania and Surinder Kaur, who have multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered against them.

SSP Aggarwal confirmed that both women are currently incarcerated in Nabha jail under various charges, including drug trafficking. The police ensured law and order were maintained during the demolition, which was carried out using bulldozers.

During the review of the operation, MLA Gurinder Singh Garry Barring praised the Punjab Government’s relentless efforts to eradicate the drug menace and stressed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of a prosperous and vibrant Punjab is being realized through these actions. He also noted that illegal properties constructed using drug money had been demolished in the Amloh constituency previously.

Under Mission “War Against Drugs”, search operations and raids were conducted at various locations across Punjab.

SSP Aggarwal revealed that, as part of the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, over 150 cases have been registered, and more than 250 drug traffickers have been arrested in Fatehgarh Sahib district alone. The district police, along with the administration, is continuing to work closely with the public and media to ensure that drug trafficking is completely rooted out.

He urged the public to come forward with any information regarding drug traffickers, assuring them that all such tips will be kept confidential. Additionally, more than 50 individuals suffering from drug addiction have been admitted to de-addiction centers and are receiving proper treatment under the campaign.

The Punjab Government’s campaign against drugs is gaining momentum, with relentless efforts to dismantle the network of drug peddlers and provide support for those affected by addiction. The government has made it clear that it will leave no stone unturned in its mission to create a drug-free state.
