Development should be ‘sustainable’, not harmful was said by government Secretary, PHED and Ground Water Department during the summit held in Rajasthan.

Dr. Samit Sharma, Administrative Secretary, PHED and Ground Water Department, said that all industries should be made water neutral and self-sufficient. There should be arrangements for rainwater harvesting and wastewater treatment plants.

There is a need to develop and opt for such technology, which reduces the use of water. These steps will ensure that the development taking place in our country is sustainable and not harmful to the environment.

He said this on Friday at the 7th edition of the Environment Summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

On this occasion, citing the example of countries like Japan and Israel, he said that there is a need to make a positive contribution in the system of water management.

He urged the people present to try to prevent misuse and wastage of water supply in their homes as well, in view of the huge shortage of ground water in the state as we always max out the use of ground water if water shortage knocks at our door.
